Overview

The Senior Agile Coach champions our organization's initiative to adopt Agile values, principles, and practices. As a member of the Agile Program Office (APO), you will improve the organization's Agile maturity through direct coaching, mentoring, and designing and delivering workshops specific to various Agile practices. You will support the management of complex and strategic program initiatives spanning multiple domains in the CIS organization, ensuring the projects are applying Agile project management practices, and coaching project leads and teams in the use of methods, metrics, and tools. This position is a key agent for driving the maturity of Agile project execution, applying Scrum and Kanban experience and best practices.

Salary Range: $128,900 - $195,400

What You'll Do
  • Coach, mentor, and teach Agile values, principles, and practices
  • Guide teams through their journey of Agile adoption, including working with teams with no prior Agile experience
  • Collaborate with head of APO to engage senior leadership on change management and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Champion agile practices in a flexible manner that includes project management and adapting to the specific needs of the organization (including hard deadlines / fixed dates at times)
  • Facilitate large collaborative events including quarterly planning and leadership forums - virtually and in-person
  • Develop curriculum and deliver educational workshops and classes that teach Agile values, principles, and practices
  • Evaluate Agile maturity and coach to higher levels of maturity at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization
  • Mentor and help project teams and programs realize their mission and deliver on their initiatives
  • Embrace changing priorities and support teams that are called upon to adjust priorities and/or approaches as circumstances dictate
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, creativity, and innovation through the application of Lean and Agile values, principles, and practices
  • Cultivate positive, team-centric dynamics, and accountability
  • Promote psychological safety, fostering a trusting and safe environment without fear of blame, with an emphasis on collaborative problem-solving
  • Apply change management and emotional intelligence in coaching for continuous improvement
  • Facilitate root-cause analysis, problem-solving, and conflict resolution
  • Support the improvement of the CIS Project Management Office (PMO) processes and standard practices with continuous improvement following Agile principles and practices
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned
What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field*
  • 6+ years' experience in managing Agile projects leading cross-functional teams implementing Agile methods to develop new processes and practices
  • 7+ years' Agile Coaching experience leading transformations in virtual and co-located environments
  • 10+ years' experience guiding high-performing engineering teams in fast-paced environments
  • Proven experience operating with mid/senior-level leadership on multi-level continuous improvement initiatives
  • Experience working on large scale efforts where multiple agile teams work under a portfolio level and program level structure
  • Experience operating agile portfolio and team-of-teams value flow
  • Kanban, Scrum, Agile at Scale certifications
  • Strong understanding and experience with concepts, techniques, and practices for scaling Agile
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and practical experience teaching teams in Agile approaches in a classroom or workshop setting
  • Clear understanding of change management practices with experience driving change across teams and organizational boundaries, constructing distributed systems at scale
  • Proven experience leading role groups (SMs, POs, PMs, etc.) through continuous improvement efforts via roadmap creation, CoPs, and training cohorts
  • Contribute to the development of Agile baselines, benchmarks, and scorecards that can be used for continuous improvement of Agile processes and practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and professional demeanor
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

It's A Plus If You Have:

  • SAFe SPC, ICAgile or Scrum Alliance Agile Enterprise Coaching certification
  • Project Management Certification a plus
  • Training from the Back of the Room certification a plus
  • Experience with enterprise task management tools (Work Otter, JIRA, Confluence, Service Desk)
  • Previous experience in a senior technical position of responsibility
  • Strong technical expertise in software development, with proficiency successfully delivering large-scale, elaborate software projects from inception to completion, with a focus on quality, scalability, and performance

*Additional years of relevant experience or a combination of an Associate's degree or equivalent and relevant experience may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree
