OVERVIEW

The Maintenance Lead is responsible for building technical capability across the Flour Packaging platform to develop self-sufficient autonomous teams. The Maintenance Lead works to improve the reliability of the system through ownership of defect handling, breakdown elimination and planning and scheduling.

In addition, the Maintenance Lead works to eliminate losses following a rigorous daily process that is data driven and focused on root cause elimination. The Maintenance Lead is the Planned Maintenance System owner for the flour packaging lines. A large portion of a Maintenance Lead's day will be spent on the floor with the technician teams building the team's technical understanding and mastery.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Supports and leads capability development of the platform members to identify, measure and drive out equipment losses to deliver targeted line / system results by providing coaching, support, direction and ongoing feedback.
  • Lead portions of the daily, weekly and monthly DDS Meetings
  • Own several daily management systems across the platform and accountable to coach/develop technician system owners who own these systems across the platform:
    • Defect Handling: Facilitates documentation of standards with technicians and coach technicians through the identification, prioritization, and resolution of defects
    • Breakdown Elimination: Identification of triggers and ensures Breakdown Elimination implementation of counter measures.
    • Planning and Scheduling: Plans, schedules and assigns work (Corrective Maintenance and Preventative Maintenance) including shutdown planning.
  • This position is technical and depended on to deliver other critical technical expertise to drive out equipment losses:
    • Analysis of equipment performance and improving component life
    • Tracking and reporting of maintenance measurement data; Maximo
  • Deliver Yearly Budget for Maintenance & Reliability costs for the line (materials, services, labor)
  • Data integrity of maintenance management system; Maximo
  • Identifies and addresses safety risks related to maintenance activities.
  • Foster an inclusive environment where people work together to solve problems and collaborate across boundaries to share best practices.
  • Partner with Engineering organization on capital and product commercialization.
  • Create and follow personal development plan to:
    • Develop deep understanding of all Daily Management Systems (Clean Inspect Lubricate, Centerline, Breakdown Elimination, Defect Handling, etc.) to optimize coaching span of influence and loss analysis.
  • Direct people leadership may be part of the role expectations depending on organizational needs
  • Cover Line Lead and Process Lead responsibilities during short-term absences.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years related experience
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related degree with applicable experience or extensive relevant work experience
  • If non-degreed, must be practitioner level as it relates to performing maintenance or similar skilled work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Good understanding of mechanical processes, both hands on and theory.
  • Understanding of maintenance and reliability performance metrics.
  • Demonstrated skills in servant leadership, problem solving, coaching, and training.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related, with applicable experience or extensive relevant work experience
  • Practical knowledge of Maximo and Planning & Scheduling.

  • International relocation or international remote working arrangements (outside of the US) will not be considered.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $67300.00 - $101200.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
