Job Description Summary
Under the general direction of the Vice President for Development (reporting to the AVP for Development and Engagement), work as part of a high-performance team to develop and manage a comprehensive, strategic, integrated annual fund program that builds the base of donors and increase the level of support for Nazareth University. The goal is to grow the annual unrestricted, restricted, and leadership-level support by 2025. The position is responsible for developing and implementing an effective annual fund program focused on shaping a sustainable tradition of annual support. Responsibilities include the development and implementation of a coordinated matrix of communication and solicitation strategies involving direct mail, phone, digital engagement, personal visitation, e-solicitations, and volunteer engagement. The Director has a keen appreciation for the foundation of annual giving as the enabling component of successful major and planned giving programs. The Director will also manage 3 positions that will help drive the results of the annual giving programs: two leadership gift officers and an assistant director of annual fund programs.

Salary Range$67,501 - $91,326 per year
Essential Functions
  • Plans, develops, and implements strategic and tactical plans for soliciting gifts from alumni, trustees, parents, friends, faculty/staff, and others to achieve annual giving goals.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Donor Relations with initiatives pertaining to the annual leadership society and growth of the Nazareth Leadership Society program-under the umbrella of the Changemaker Circle-including events and engaging volunteers to help meet goals.
  • Must be focused on building a sustainable program of annual support with attainable growth metrics.
  • Oversee all annual giving programs including direct mail, phone, faculty/staff campaign, digital campaigns such as Naz Giving Day and crowdfunding, plus senior gift, and other targeted solicitation programs.
  • Collaborate with the Director of alumni & constituent relations and with marketing communications teams to manage coordinated matrix of communication and solicitation strategies.
  • Supervise Assistant Director of Annual Fund Programs and two Assistant Directors of Leadership Giving.
  • Assign and direct work tasks, set/approve schedule, and time records as needed.
  • Provide training and guidance on key department priorities.
  • Serve on the Institutional Advancement "Data Team" and maintain familiarity and donor database, donor reporting tools, and program performance metrics.
  • Continually monitor and analyze annual fund program performance to assess progress toward goal and adjust when and if needed to ensure annual goals are achieved.
  • Ability to analyze trends and data to adjust program components to meet or exceed annual goals.
  • Responsible for contributing to the growth of a comprehensive undergraduate philanthropy program that is charged to help educate the student body on the importance of philanthropic support and the role it plays in their everyday lives on campus.
  • Contribute to the success of the Institutional Advancement team and communicate the goals of the Nazareth Annual Fund as they relate to the mission of the school.

Required Education, Experience, Technology Applications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 3-5 years in Development, Alumni Affairs, Sales, Higher Education, Prospect Research, Marketing, or related fields.

Preferred Education, Experience, Technology Applications and Skills
  • 3-5 years of Annual Fund experience.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Full Supervision of mainly other non-supervisory employees.
  • Responsible for employment decisions for direct reports.

Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, extensive computer use, and occasional lifting or moving of light objects.

Equipment to be used
  • Proficiency with typical office equipment is necessary for this role, including computers, printers, scanners, telephones, and photocopiers.
