General Manager

Chandler Arizona

Scope of the job:

Your mission is to develop in a sustainable way the Product Company & STCs in all its dimensions to match the target of operational efficiency, cost leadership and support innovation & new product programs, as & when required.

Fundamentals in your mission are to run the operations with focus on excellence in production, supply chain and operations management; safety, quality, asset management and organizational development and to deliver superior value and excellent customer service. Managing a highly complex, highly unpredictable set of customer demands across multiple product lines and brands. Accountable for the full operation of the Product Company/ Service Technology Centers (STCs) including P&L responsibility in accordance with the principles of SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) from design for service, decontamination, assembly to delivery and technical warranty support.

Safety

Quality

  • Fully embrace the Vacuum Technique Quality Policy and Quality Charter and through continual improvement strive to deliver defect free products and services to our customers.
  • Improve product and process quality ( internal/supplier) by more effective quality management systems. Organize regular PQM as per divisional standards and secure action plan attainment. As a permanent member of the PQM, your mission is to make sure actions are timely taken by the involved members of meeting being Engineering, Production, Purchasing and Service.
  • Create a high quality mentality. Guarantee safe and reliable products in line with global industry standards.
  • Delivery
  • Meet market competitive lead-time with reliable on-time delivery performance at minimum cost to the business through the implementation of lean practices in a flexible and efficient operation that matches our customer needs and delivers superior value and excellent customer service.

Cost

  • Full ownership of profit & loss and the balance sheet of the Product Company & STCs Americas
  • Continually improve profitability through on-going efficiency improvements and product cost reduction programs.

Product Development

  • Support new product development through testing processes and protocols that enable reduced time to market, effective program management that is in line with customer needs, and Divisional requirements and strategies.

Supply Chain

  • Manage a strong, flexible and reliable supply chain that supports company targets in terms of product quality, product availability, product cost and the use of working capital.

People

  • Attract, develop and retain the best people and encourage diversity in line with our corporate values.
  • Build internal and external talent pipeline and succession plans, including establishing Early Careers and internal talent development programs
  • Continue integration into the Atlas Copco and VTBA structure, culture and processes.
  • Ensure all operators & staff have the right competences and skills, with confidence and authority to run their processes and systems in a sustainable way. Secure flexibility and agility of the workforce.
  • Develop strong shop floor leadership culture (lead by example) based on respect and tight operational controls and with strong focus on 5S, safety, process execution and organizational discipline.
  • Full implement the Vacuum Technique Production System (VTPS) across the entire site.

Strategy

  • Lead operations regional strategic direction
  • Sponsor broader strategic direction through 'Objectives, Goals, Strategies and Measures' (OGSM) framework
  • Will be a critical player in the generation of divisional strategy

Other

  • Manage local issues, whilst interfacing effectively across a multi dimension matrix organization through: GM Product Company Peer Group; Divisional Management Team; Local Country Management Team & Atlas Copco Holding structure in US and Mexico
  • Ensure that statutory legislation, government regulations and Vacuum Technique's policies are applied.
  • As GM for Product Company Chandler and STCs Americas you will also have responsibility for active management and oversight of businesses providing transition or service level activities in support of PC /STCs be they internal or external to the Edwards, VT or Atlas Copco
  • Manage development of the Chandler facility, reshaping layouts to support expansion of output requirements for PC Chandler product range
  • Position STC structure for future needs taking into account geographical challenges, customers, costs and supply chain considerations
  • Design, develop and build new facility in Arizona (joint STC / PC):
  • Meet future needs of the region - Samsung, TSMC & Intel are building new fabs in Arizona.
  • Establish new build pump manufacture for pumps reaching end of life
  • Lead the development of a machining capability for the STCs globally
  • Under distributed manufacturing, create capability for supporting new build within the STC.
  • E-parts repair capability

Scope of the job

The General Manager must be able to interact and influence at President level as well as with all other levels internally and externally in order to forge effective working relationship necessary to support the business growth.

The General Manager will take full responsibility for bringing products to market on behalf of the Business Divisions. This includes:

  • Engineering
  • NPI introduction VSS &VSC
  • Remanufacturing 7 flexible services
  • Operations VSS & VSC
  • Financial responsibility (P&L)
  • Safe disposal, working within a decontamination environment ensuring that waste is removed/treated responsibly to VT directives and local legislation with fully trained and assessed personnel

Strategic planning

  • Develop and maintain a mid/long term capital investment and capacity plan in line with projected business growth and equipment/building lifetimes and technological developments
  • In line with the business leaders provide, support and lead 5 year investment planning for the region

Skills/Knowledge/Experience

Education

  • University degree in an engineering or relevant discipline or equivalent working experience

Relevant Previous Experience

  • Proven track record in Operations Management, ideally in a machining/electronics/light assembly environment. OR. Proven track record in Technical/Engineering Management with particular knowledge of (NPI) New Product Introduction and Project/Program Management of complex, multidimensional products.

Language Skills

  • Excellent command of English
  • Some knowledge of Spanish is desirable but not essential
